Eyewear Trends

It’s true that sunglasses are an accessory that we choose according to the shape of our face. When we fall in love with a silhouette it’s difficult to deviate from it. However, it’s also true that one face shape can look good with different designs. This is wonderful, because each season the classic silhouettes are updated with different materials and finishes. Some of these designs had already gone out of style and came back again with force. So, give your look the finishing touch with the latest trends in the market.

Cat Eye

This silhouette became popular during the 50’s and 60’s and is a style icon of those decades. It was widely used by Hollywood divas like Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. This design favors many face shapes and allows the wearer to experiment with them in many ways: the frames can go from thick, to thin, up to half frames; color wise they can go from classics like black and brown to reds and whites with mirror lenses. This glasses give an air of sophistication to any look, dare to try them this season.

Maxi-glasses

This is one of those trends that comes and goes, and this time around we have to thank the recent return of the 70’s to the fashion world. Maxi-glasses are back, but with a much more futuristic look, similar to a visor, because of how big they are and their completely straight upper frame. But if this trend is too strong for you and you prefer something more subtle, choose maxi-glasses with square lenses and a normal bridge. There are many options for you to choose from.

Round

Round glasses are a trend that is here to stay. This 70’s classic comes back updated as brands experiment with materials, the frames become bigger, get cut up and in some cases disappear completely. Also colored lenses, that were so characteristic of that decade, return updated with mirror finishes. This is another silhouette that goes well with many face shapes, especially with square and diamond shapes.

Oval

This is a silhouette that comes from the 90’s grunge, more specifically from Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of Nirvana, who used to wear this style of glasses with thick white frames. Thanks to Hedi Slimane from Saint Laurent, this silhouette has returned. On the streets we see it more and more in different versions: with thick or thin frames; in contrasting colors or tone to tone; even with interesting textures such as pearl finishes and tortoise shell. Best off all, they add a touch of style to any outfit.

Lucite Frame

This is the most versatile trend of the list, since a translucent frame goes well with everything. We find it in all kinds of silhouettes but especially in the cat-eye and wayfarer classics. They are a good option to refresh your look, especially because you can find many different options in the market.
